Constructive Conflict

  • Terminal City Club 837 West Hastings Street Vancouver, BC, V6C 3N9 Canada (map)

Join us for an in-person 3-hour workshop with Stuart Anderson and Bettina Rothe of SkyPilots.

What skills does the leader of today and tomorrow require to coach and lead effectively in these times of rapid change? ‘The new normal’ has brought about a lot of change, evolving opinions on how to approach work, and intensified the need to respond with increased resilience, creativity and effective communication.

In these turbulent times, conflict can easily occur between individuals or within and between groups – often due to the wide range of differences in people’s views and backgrounds.  However, a lack of conflict may signal the absence of effective interaction. Conflict can be viewed as a necessity to help build meaningful relationships between people, teams and groups. How the conflict is handled will often determine whether it is reactive or responsive, productive or devastating. Constructive conflict helps to create opportunities for building trust and collaboration, alignment of intentions, and advancement towards common goals – leading the way to greater satisfaction and performance of those involved.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • How to embrace and meet the challenge of conflict with openness and respect

  • How to hold space for different perspectives (or opposing viewpoints) and respond effectively to polarizing reactions

  • How to self-regulate your nervous system to optimize your communication

  • Key methods for asking powerful questions and practicing deep listening

  • The benefits of healthy, constructive conflict and how to resolve it collaboratively
